i *love* it when my friends come to visit, especially when its short notice (its like a surprise.. and those of you that know me, know its hard to surprise me) and I get to enjoy them being here versus the anticipation of them coming. anyway my good friend jonathan is in town (from a far off and arguably holy land) and we get the distinct pleasure of having the house where he hangs his hat.

today we saw our friends the zakai's. since i last saw them (him at our wedding, her.. 2 years ago) they went and had a kid. it was nice to meet you eytan... looking forward to the next time.

adventures in three counties 365.100

woohoo!! i have made it to 100!! so today gets 3 pictures one for every county and digit!
today we went to the marin headlands and the iconic golden gate bridge. it was the first clear day and it was beautiful!
we then headed up to sonoma county for more wine tasting we started out at viansa winery which also had a food marketplace. a great place to start out and oh so beautiful, even though its winter the landscape is still breath-taking.

we made a couple more stops and finished up at Hagafen the only Kosher vintner in the region. it was lovely and the place was jammed we ended up with a couple bottle and they lets us pick pomelos (the pictures are not flattering!) the sign for the vineyard is small and at the entrance the only indication that you are in a jewish place is the date establishment in hebrew and the discreetly placed mezzuzah.

today we went to Muir Woods, which is an accessible walk in the woods from berkeley, though the drive there made me a queasy (think windy road + lots of fog.. so you know you are on a cliff but can't even see how far down it goes) this is will standing next to a tree... a big tall tree.

today we went on a tour of the Scharffen Berger factory where they make outstanding chocolate, they also make you wear a hair net. sadly the chocolate makers were on vacation, but happily lots of free samples were handed out!!

so while strolling along in san francisco on our way to the ferry building for some lunch and chocolate before gearing up for for modern art at SFMOMA. we saw this "boston elevated railway" trolley car. i kept wondering if i got on would it take me home.. anyway it seems that the the SF transit system bought old trolley cars from around the world and refurbished them for use on their streetcar system. al gore would be proud.

being in worcester is like a giant valium for jackson. he loves being so much, that is so tired at the end of the day he begs to go to sleep.

poor jackson hasn't been feeling well. he loves chewing on plastic bottles and because he isn't feeling well i gave him a big bottle to chew on. i like to think that this made him feel just that much better

everyday in an attempt to not sleep in dog hair every night we move and cover our pillows with the duvet cover. our dog despite his lack of opposable thumbs manages to get at them to make his afternoon lie-in more comfortable. being a dog IS SO HARD.

today the weather was terrible. "a wintry mix" that included heavy snow, sleet, and then rain. in order to leave the house one needed an ark, because the street was a river. In attempt to fix this the town of brookline sent out workers to clear out the drains, this meant that loud trucks with flashy lights were outside our house. this was highly stressful for jackson, who was only at ease when will was investigating and reassuring him that everything was ok.

tonight marks the eighth and final night of hannukah. there is a sense of sadness because each night of this holiday will and i have spent 3 minutes together lighting candles and just being a family, in the hectic pace of our lives sometimes we forget to just spend time together.

old roommate, new baby (not related it's MoMP's little guy) oyster fest was fun.. i realized that the hoarding around the oysters was similar to jewish weddings when everyone crowds around the server who is carrying the meat on sticks. good times!

as an aside i made the best brownies ever tonight, for those of you who know me, you know i heart the trader joe's seasonal candy cane jo-jo's, one of the blogs i stalk knew this and created this recipe, peppermint cookies n' cream brownies. go make them now! today we cleaned and cleaned and napped and cleaned so dinner was brought to us from amy's organic frozen dinners (mine was the shepherd's pie, will had the burrito especial) delicious for 6 minutes of microwaving the clementine were also tasty.
