Jackson had an upset belly today and we took him to the vet, everything is fine. I guess times of crisis force you to realize just how much love you are capable of. I was going to take a walk today, but the emotional upheaval of a potentially sick animal made me exhausted, lucky for me I had a cute dog to snuggle with.

Today was a day like any other, except that seven years ago, the US endured a terrible terrorist attack. Ruben is far too young to understand it and I struggle with how much we would want to expose him to anyway. Nonetheless at the end of the day Will and I were tired.

Being in the hospital sucked for many reasons, but it also meant that I lost out on spending the afternoon with Jonathan. Lucky for me he was able to be flexible with his schedule and came over today. Ruben was thrilled to meet him and is even more excited to have serious quality time in October! Also Ruben was quick to point out that his outfit is what all the cool kids are wearing.

I was on strict no food or drink orders with an IV providing all my sustenance for the whole of Sunday into Monday morning (I was very cranky about this). But by the time my favorite visitors came I was allowed clear liquids and was already in better spirits. Appendicitis was mostly ruled out. Will and Ruben spent most of the day with me watching bad television and sleeping. I was discharged at 6:38 pm with the diagnosis of inflamed lymph nodes due to a gastrointestinal virus. I was happy with the level of care I received, but unhappy that it took so long to discharge me. I waited from 1 pm to 6:38 pm to get discharged. Anyway I am so happy to be home and healthy!

At 1:45 this morning I woke up in terrible pain. It was bad enough that at 2:45 am I asked Will to take me to the ER. After some tests they decided to admit me with possible appendicitis. Understandably I didn't have my camera with me or the forethought to take pictures with my phone. Suffice it to say the ER is not really worth taking pictures of.

today one of my b-school friends, Martha, came over. we talked about job hunting, families and the rest of stuff that we now have time to talk about now that school is over. The most important part is that she held Ruben (and she didn't break him!)
later on Will and Jackson were playing in the hall while I was nursing Ruben. I realized that there haven't been so many Jackson shots recently, Ruben has taken center stage. Our dog has amazing muscles that are really quite beautiful, hard to capture in a picture though.

For those of you who have visited with Ruben, you know that he spits-up. To compensate we place burp clothes near his mouth. However Goldie is special, because for the first time with his diaper on he managed to pee on someone. Lucky Goldie! Ruben felt really bad as did his parents.

Ruben, like Jackson, is concerned about the environment and his impact on it. while he is concerned he isn't willing to be potty trained just yet. So despite the fact that we were using seventh generation diapers, Ruben insisted that we go one step further... so without further ado, the maiden voyage in gdiapers! (gDiapers consist of a washable, cotton outer "little g" pant and a plastic-free flushable diaper refill. They are made of breathable material just like sports clothing. )

ps. for my p'ton readers, the gdiaper is the correct shade of orange, no matter how your monitors may show it.

there is so much that goes on in this little man's life. today he had a play-date with MOMP's little man and more importantly MOMP got her fill of baby head smell. its her crack, i think that if when you went to the car wash that were a scent available called "newborn baby head" she would get her car cleaned every week just for the smell. (this is no way meant to imply that her car needs cleaning that often just that she's an addict) anyway while there are pictures of this play date... this picture is what took my breath away. jackson is adjusting to have a younger person in the house and today he proved it by being able to share the bed with more than one person. who knew i would a woman in a house full of boys.

what is CSA you ask? community supported agriculture, i answer. we joined the stillman farms CSA and today was the first pick-up the bounty was plentiful despite it being early in the season. we got radishes, golden beets, argula, swiss chard, strawberries, spinach and lettuce. i am excited to play with greens in my cooking! (ok i'll be honest i'm excited to taste the things that will makes with the greens!)

this whole pregnancy things makes me feel like i am 1000 degrees all the time. while will tells me i am cool to the touch i feel like i am burning up. i have complained in the past about the reverse effects of the thermal camera on the isight, so invert all the blue to red and you will get a sense of just how hot i feel.

in my lifetime the furniture i have acquired was basically take it as is, either free or there are no choices you have to take it in this color if you want it. for this chair, will and i chose the color and the style and we are so happy! since its a glider type chair it lives in the little room, until such time that we can bring into the living room and enjoy it all the time. also extra style points come from jesse who gifted us the beautiful throw from mexico you see artfully draped along the back of the chair . (the artful draping is mine but i couldn't have done it with any other throw so easily.)

for those of you with cats or dogs, you know what it means when they start scooting their butts on the ground. well i noticed it happening which meant it was time to go get those bad boys "expressed" because i am a nice person "expressed" is what i will call it for you. really this is just a picture of jackson's butt much happier!

tomorrow eli is going to start painting the dining room. so tonight we emptied it and stacked the big furniture in the middle, jackson was excited because the tarps we used smell like camping and he hearts camping. goodbye semi-gloss blue paint!

i love summer fruits. i would eat nothing but fruit if my digestive system would allow it. in this bowl is one quarter of a watermelon we got at costco last week. self control is not having cut the whole thing and eating it in one sitting.
